Why are conservatives so eager to defend Sarah Palin when she obviously had no idea what she was talking about?

Just because Paul Revere spoke to a British person at some point in his life does not mean she was right. She was obviously prattling on about something about which she had no comprehension. She was talking about his ride (which she said), not some meeting he had at another time that she had never heard of before yesterday. Why can't some people just accept that she is ignorant and has no business anywhere near the seat of power? Also, if she is right, what bells did Revere ring?
