Should I adopt the kitten?

I just adopt a new kitten and he's the sweetest thing :) But My mother knew and she told not to adopt it but i want to because she chose this home and he likes me.My mother said to throw it away.I just saw him can't go down on the top of our bathroom.And he's very very hungry(poor thing.)My mother won't allow because its another problem in the house.Is my mother right?
