Why are hotel rooms so nasty?

Because the staff has thousands of room to clean, they do not have the time to thoroughly clean each one. Look into 5 star hotels as they are generally cleaner. You have to realize A LOT of different people stay in each respective room over time and some things cant be really cleaned.
