In what situation can there be four outs in an inning?

The should be six outs in an inning. Three outs in the top and three in the bottom. There could be only four outs if the score is tied or the away team is winning and you have to play in the bottom of the 9th. If one out is recorded and then the home team scores there would only be four outs.
